REGULATING AFRICA’S DIAMOND TRADE: INTERVIEW WITH CLARK GIBSON

PROSPECT had the pleasure of interviewing Clark Gibson, Professor of Political Science and Director of the International Studies Program at UC San Diego. Professor Gibson spoke at the 2009 Model United Nations conference at UCSD. Here he describes some of the difficulties in regulating Africa’s illegal diamond trade, as well as some of the measures being implemented to help curb the sale of “blood diamonds”.
