Emei Mountain

This representation of the bodhisattva Samantabhadra rests atop Emei Mountain in China’s Sichuan Province. Known as one of the country’s Four Sacred Mountains of Buddhism, Emei was the site of the first Buddhist temple in China, built in the 1st century B.C.E.
